Mondays...bleh
As a brief update to my boredom of Saturday night post...I'd just like to say things did get better. Jason and Chris managed to sucker me into starting a NWN campaign. That's what I get for asking to do a Skype conference call, I guess!

A few other random notes of interest, to me at least: no good news on the weight update. The scales didn't budge at all last week. In my little universe though, I've decided the walk to work, the bellydancing, and the power yoga created muscle, which everyone knows weighs more than fat. It's nice to live in your own little universe...it means you get to make the rules and alter reality where necessary. *wink*

In other news, I'll slowly but surely be switching the site over to use a nifty little web development tool called Blox. Y'all should check it out. I'm a little biased though, since my friend Jason is the author of it!

my social life sucks
Anyone who thinks my life seems interesting after following this blog...let me just enlighten you about something.

It's Saturday night, and I just finished cleaning all but the tub, and folding all my laundry.

How's that for a social life!

shopping spree!
So, today I had lots of fun running around town going shopping. First stop was at DSW Shoe Warehouse, where I hoped to find some sporty comfy sandals to wear, since I hate shoes in general and the best part of summer is not needing to wear them usually.

Out of the several hundred shoes there...I couldn't find a single pair if sandals I liked. :-( So, I walked next door to Payless, and again...no shoes. I'm not sure why all the sandals in my world are designed for prissy females with tiny feet. Wtf! (No offense to any females who might be reading!) I just want sandals that are comfortable to walk around in all day...shouldn't be too much to ask.

I put the sandal quest on hold and headed to Wal-mart next. Lots of undies later (I purposely didn't use the "p" word just for Robin's sake!), I finally walked out. Then I went down the street to Target to search for something comfortable to sleep in, since all my stuff is finally starting to get holy...er, holey. ;-) Wal-mart was a bust in that aspect, but, I found a few nice soft snuggly things I liked in Target. Target 4tehwin, as they say! Tomorrow I get to have fun cleaning out the undies drawer and throwing lots of them away!

The neat little side event to add about Target...I parked way out in the parking lot, and as I got out of the hobbitmobile, I noticed a guy sitting on a prayer rug facing east. That's pretty neat. Sometimes I wish I could be that dedicated to something, but apparently all I can be dedicated to is not being dedicated to anything.

Next stop, Galyan's. That store is evil, evil I tell you. I love going there, because every time I do it awakens the inner athlete in me that's bursting to escape. Someday, maybe it will. Today's trip was really evil though...clearance signs all over the place! I only meant to look for sandals, but I walked out with a pair of khaki "convertible" pants (you know, the ones where the bottom half of the legs come off so you can make shorts), 2 pairs of shorter tighter exercise shorts (I decided yoga in the loose shorts I have wasn't so comfortable), and finally...decent sandals. They aren't from the women's department though...again, the selection of women's sandals, even at my favorite store, was rather pitiful. I don't want prissy sandals, and I don't want bright pink or bright green slip-ons either. So, I wandered over to the men's department and actually managed to find a small pair that seemed sufficiently comfortable, and best of all...they were on clearance too.

Man, do I love the word "clearance."

a couple of pictures
Me, a few days ago.

Hobbitmobile license plates

lunchtime musings
Last night, I had an uncharacteristic abundance of energy, so I decided to try out the bellydancing workout DVDs I bought last summer.

Now, before you get all hot and bothered at the thought of a hobbit bellydancing, let me just stop you right now and tell you...it ain't a pretty sight!

The last few times I tried, following the DVDs left me in immense pain, as well as not being able to last through an entire 30 minute workout. Nine months of chiropractic care and 32 vanished pounds later...I actually danced my way through a whole workout this time. Go me!

Now if only I actually felt graceful. Neena and Veena are annoyingly so.

random thoughts
First of all, I got my hair cut over the weekend. Sorry I forgot to mention that. So far everyone seems to like it, not that everyone else's opinions override mine! I like it too...it's a lot shorter, and if you're lucky I'll get around to sticking a new picture up on the site.

Secondly, the hobbitmobile is fixed now! For those who don't know, a few weeks ago I put the back seats down to take a bunch of trash to the dumpster. The release lever on one side broke. Good news - it was covered under warranty!

We released our free expansion, New Frontiers, today. I didn't hear about anything major blowing up, so I guess things went as well as they usually do on a release day. Me, I had my nose buried in Excel most of the day working on Jewelcraft.

Site updates - Added Matt to the list of friends' blogs. Also added a countdown timer at the top of the page because I'm feeling rather silly and sappy today.

more site updates
For anyone who wishes to see a few blogs of the people I call friends, there's a list of links over to your left now. Enjoy!

*Edit* To the right I mean!

dwobbits
Hurrah for dwobbits. I think. That's the terminology Amber came up with to describe the offspring of a halfling and a dwarf. So much for my kids being called munchkins or hobbitlings!

Not really anything to babble about today. It's been a quiet weekend in the hobbit universe. Quiet, but immensely happy.

One week, and less than 5 days now till Chris is here. *beams*

And the weight update - 2 pounds lost this past week. Go me! That's 18 pounds so far on the South Beach diet. Halfway to my target goal, which is definitely nowhere close to the silly recommended weight charts. But, no worries, it's my "sexy clothes" size, as far as I'm concerned. And it's not that far away!

Sorry for the less-than-amusing update, Gentle Readers. Sometimes a quiet but immensely happy weekend is best though.

how do you know when?
How do you know when you've met the right person? I remember asking friends and relatives, and seeing the question asked in movies and books. That means I'm not alone in wondering, or else it wouldn't be a common question in many romances.

So, just how do you know? It seems like 99% of the time, the answer is "you just know." That's never really answered the question for me. It's like being a child and asking "Mom, why is the sky blue?" and the answer is "Just because."

I think I figured it out though. You really do just know. It's like having a gigantic billboard with blinking neon lights that spell out Ya just know! in your mind. There's absolutely no doubt, no wondering "am I just infatuated? will it last? are we doing the right thing?"

Ya just know it's right and it will work out.

Embracing who you are
For the longest time, one of the things that irritated me the most, right after "let's be friends," was the word "cute."

"Cute" is the kiss of death that follows the fatal strike of "let's be friends."

So, I've always hated being "cute." It usually results in the "always a friend and never a girlfriend" syndrome, except in a few rare cases where I luck upon the truly psychotic (/point Spyke, /point Chris, /hugs both).

Ya know what though? I think I'm done with protesting. If I'm "cute," then I guess it's high time I embrace who I am.

I'm KC. I'm a gaming geek girl, and I have been since I was 4 years old thereabouts, when my older brother Greg used to take me with him to visit his friend Roy down the road. Roy had an Atari 2600, and that was all she wrote, so to speak. I like all kinds of music, if it's good, just like I accept all kinds of religious/political/philosphical/life-in-general views, if I agree with 'em. I like the idea of odd body piercings and tattoos, and I love Celtic jewelry and stories about ghosts and goblins and wizards and aliens from outer space. I'm a Mel Gibson/Vin Diesel/Dwayne Johnson fanatic.

The most important revelation for today, in accordance with embracing who I am, is this - I really really really really like Chris, who my Gentle Readers should have read about already. He may even be my lobster. (You'd have to be a Friends fan to understand.) Without a doubt, he is the "new guy in my life" for as long as he'll have me.

So, there you have it. Expect cuteness from here on out, world! I'm coming out of the cute closet.

I love my co-workers
Scott: T, you really need to work on punctuation.

Yvonne: Punctuation, what's that?

Scott: "Oh God" only has one explanation point.

Yvonne: Exclamation even!

Jen: What's an explanation point? "Oh God," I exclaim loudly. Like that?

Scott: No. "Oh God," I explain loudly.

Do you have any Prince Albert in a can?
What, you do?! Then let him out!

On second thought, don't let him out! Not till later behind closed doors at least. We don't want to shock our Gentle Readers.

Earlier this week I thought about writing up a nice little "Day in the Life of a Game Developer" entry, but after yesterday, that's been put on hold, for another episode in the soap opera I call my life.

It all started with a lovely little link of Vin Diesel taking a shower. For those who haven't yet seen me start drooling...well, I'm pretty sure that if Mel Gibson isn't my perfect guy after all, it's only because Vin is. I mean, what more could you ask for! He's got the body, he likes fast cars and has the whole "bad boy" persona down pat...and omg he's a gamer! I tell ya, if that isn't gamer chick Utopia, I don't know what is. So, anyway! You can imagine the happy thoughts caused by Vin in a shower. Instant drool.

Then Spyke hit me with his movie idea - why not make a nice little action movie with Vin Diesel and the Rock, and Mel Gibson making a guest appearance as a veteran cop. That's just so unfair on so many levels. We've already discussed what Vin Diesel can do to me, but Vin and the Rock on one screen?! Good grief, talk about hormonal overload.

Well, I finally managed to drag my attention back to work, and I made it almost all the way through the day without any troubles.

Then my friend Phyllis sends me an IM saying "men are wierd." Considering how many guys we flirt with and gossip about online, there's no telling. So, I asked her which one was wierd this time. She asks me if I ever knew this dwarf cleric, Gorgin. Heck yeah! Gorgin was Hendel back in the old days of EQ, and even more, he was my clerical mentor and good friend. Apparently he's back playing EQ, and Phyllis has started talking to him a lot. She said he's a sweet guy, "interesting."

As it just so happens, I've never taken Chris (we're past character names here, we're all friends!) off my ICQ contact list. So I sent the standard grumpy redheaded cleric greeting that I always sent to the grumpy dwarf.../bite. After the usual chitchat of hey how ya doing yadda yadda yadda, Chris tells me he's changed a lot. Ok...define changed a lot. Well, Chris dated Lisa (also an EQ acquaintance I know), and she apparently loosened a lot of inhibitions for him. He's even got a piercing and is looking at tattoos.

Right, a piercing, I'm thinking. Chris has always been a close friend whenever we remember to actually say hi to each other, so I just had to ask...where? Do I want to know?

As open and happy as you please, he informs me he got a Prince Albert.

Oooooh my, thinks I. Ow.

What's your email address? Want pictures? Ok, so I actually did have a small chance to say no here, but come on...I've led a rather sheltered life! "Sure" got typed out before I was even positive I should be saying anything. It wasn't really much of a choice though.

So...I get home. There's Outlook, there's the email with attachments. Last chance to not look. No way, you can't not look. So, I looked.

I'm not sharing, sorry. If you really want to know, ask Chris yourself! Or Google "Prince Albert".

Oh, the story doesn't end here. Everyone I've talked to probably thinks so, but well, I just couldn't bring myself to mention the rest of the conversation Chris and I had. Let's just say...curiosity, and webcams. You can figure out the rest. I'm sorry...I just had to see. Be shocked, it's ok. But ya know, this is me. I'm curious. And what's more, I didn't find it shocking really. It was...fascinating. Even at the same time that silly prim&proper voice was trying to whisper "you'll go to hell for lookin at this!"...it was still fascinating.

And even better, the story still isn't over!

If you read the post before this one, you'll know I'm oblivious to those quiet guys. So, guess what I was oblivious to this time! Yep, you guessed it! Apparently I failed to notice all the times that Chris and I sat and babbled at each other about life and everything...he had a thing for me. Amazing. How I missed something like that for five years...I'll never know. He swears he did everything he thought made it obvious...except the obvious telling me straight out.

So.../bite Chris. After five years, guess we see where this revelation takes us! Good things come to those who wait, right?!

Well, there you have it...the alternative to the "Day in the Life of a Game Developer" entry I was planning on. Personally, this was more entertaining than the day I took notes on at work.

ftlog
Let me just go ahead and set the record straight about something. I'm oblivious. Completely utterly oblivious. At least when it involves me (shy person) noticing guys (the shy ones). If you haven't told me, I don't know. I mean...we're talking about online friendships, where flirting is the primary means of communication for a large portion of my circle of friends. I *never* take any of it seriously unless someone gives me a reason to!

So, ftlog, if you want me to know you're interested, you're gonna have to speak up. I may be a happy flirty brat in a textual conversation, but I don't make a habit of taking anything other than fun seriously!

And I'm sure my sister and my mom will enjoy reading that! Just wait till the real update later tonight.

Recap of this weekend
It's been a pretty slow weekend, so I'll sum it up in one post.

Saturday afternoon was the annual summer party at Chris & Chris's house. However, someone forgot to let Mother Nature know it was supposed to be a summer party, as the high on Saturday was in the 50's and it was cold and rainy most of the day. I don't remember ever having to pull out long sleeves in June, at least not in a state that at one point was classified as "Southern." I even had to beg for coffee to get made! Of course, that was partly because the Bailey's Irish Cream and Godiva chocolate liqueur needed something to go with.

Saturday evening was a lot less social. All I really wanted to do after the party was curl up with my blanket and watch movies. In particular, I was craving something with Mr. Vin Diesel. I ended up having to go to Best Buy and splurge on myself - A Man Apart, XXX, Bubba Ho-tep, and Fight Club. Vin and a nice rum & coke = comfy happy me.

Sunday...pretty much nothing to talk about! Sunday is Everquest day. No one here really wants to hear about that. So, I'll just say I spent the day wondering if I was gonna get any good email to read. And I did. :-) Links to pirate pictures included! Don't ask.

Hmmm...website news - not much to report today except that Movable Type doesn't cater installation instructions to newbie webmasters like me. I'll have to wait for Joshua to come to my rescue. Joshua is not the Josh posted about previously, either! This Joshua belongs to Robn.

Diet update - Right. I was a slacker last week and got a little distracted from meal plans. As a result, I didn't lose any. Oh well. This week I will do better!

Only 6.5 weeks to Vegas!

Late night news
Ronald Reagan finally died. I'm not a very politically minded person anymore, but it does make me a bit sad that the first president I really remember is gone.

J-Lo got married. Guess this means Ben Affleck is definitely free!

Hi Jamie!
Everyone say hi to my friend Jamie, who swears he's going to read here for daily hijinks. I suppose I should have warned him there aren't really "daily" hijinks happening here.

on an update roll!
I forgot to mention I turned comments on finally. No idea if they work! Guess I'll go comment to myself to find out.

another addition
Added an email me link to the right as well. I rock.

a few updates
If you're a regular visitor (hi my darling sister!), you may notice the box on the right side has changed a little. There's a new quote, taken from a song made popular by Hee Haw ages ago. Talking to my friend Jilly made me think of it today, so I thought it was appropriate to update the quote for now.

Also, I added links to wishlists at two of my favorite sites to go "window" shopping. I'm not expecting anything, but ya never know.
