happy Monday
Ah, another week gone, and yet it seemed like only a few minutes.
Crunch time is still in process, but it's not as bad as it could be. I even got to have a weekend. I'm managing to stay caught up with no excessively long hours, so yay me.
What's been going on...
Well, let's see...first, there's the Halloween costume search. I had this fabulous outfit planned, which required a nifty stretch velvet gypsy blouse with huge bell sleeves...alas, the company I tried to get it from did not have my size in stock. I googled for it to no avail...a few other places carried the same shirt, but it was either not available size-wise, or there was no way to get it delivered within a week. Finally, I started tossing in random search terms at the online shopping mecca of the universe, Ebay.
I didn't find a shirt that I wanted, but I did find an alternate outfit altogether...a spiffy black dress that will accomplish the same look. Oh, the look, in case you're wondering, is a semi-Goth chick. Originally, vampire was added on to the end of that description, but after all the shopping for shoes and jewelry and makeup, I didn't really feel up to worrying about fangs. Oh well. Adopting a Goth look will be different enough for me!
Hm...what else. Oh, there's the Penny Arcade toy drive, at www.childsplaycharity.org. Last year, those guys managed to get over $250,000 in donations and toys for the Seattle Children's Hospital. This year, they're back again, bigger and better than ever! This year the love is being spread to five different childrens' hospitals across the country. Have a heart, go buy something from one of the wishlists.
The other big news for the day...I found out my friend Colin is back from Iraq, safe and sound. He enlisted in the Marines about 2 years ago, and the last I talked to him, he was heading out to basic training. He's one of my honorary little brothers (it's an elite club!), so needless to say, I was a bit worried about him. Worried enough that I actually found myself checking the US deaths in Iraq at least once a week to make sure his name wasn't there. Now I can stop worrying! For the moment, he's stationed in North Carolina...hopefully we both get to head back to dear ol' Mississippi for Christmas...it'd be great to see him again. If nothing else, North Carolina isn't that far away. Even more good news for him...seems he managed to find his perfect gal since we last talked, and they're getting married next summer. Yay!
So...life keeps rolling along. Stay tuned for the next breath-taking update.

ah, crunch time!
If you don't hear much from me for the next week or two, it's because it is officially "crunch time" at work, where "crunch" equals 10-12 hour workdays and maybe weekends too. Fun stuff.

it's just another manic...Tuesday
The updates have been rather slow lately, but that's because there hasn't been too much happening. This past weekend was spent mostly being anti-social, to make up for the first weekend in October where the gang was out together every day. We did, however, venture out to see The Forgotten on Saturday.
Other than playing around with the World of Warcraft beta, Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs beta, and X-men Legends...I've been eating, sleeping, and staring at Excel most of my awake hours. My eyes are starting to feel like they're going to burst into flames from staring at Excel so intently day in day out. Thankfully, there are enough hours spent curled up on the couch with Chris to keep me sane till the Excel torture is over.
Speaking of Chris...he's in St. Louis for a few days. He left this afternoon and he'll be back Friday. Don't be surprised if I seem a bit down till then! (For those who are curious, there's nothing wrong...he's just going back to wrap up a few things and see family)
So, that's what I've been up to! Enough to write 3 tiny paragraphs that aren't entertaining in the least.

happy October 4th
Well, Sunday didn't go exactly as earlier planned...but that's ok! Instead of going to look at arts & crafts stuff, I ended up with an appointment at the Serenity Day Spa in Tyson's Corner. Good trade-off! Amber and I went together, and we were so relaxed that the server at TGI Friday's remarked on how mellow we all seemed at lunch.
The rest of the day went as planned, and everyone had a great time.
I have the best friends in the world! Thanks for making my weekend, and every other day we spend together, absolutely fantabulous!

movie madness
I added a few movies to the Movie forum on my message board. You can find the message board link to your right. The movie reviews are not excessively detailed...they're mostly just to catalog what I've watched and the general opinion I had overall. Feel free to jump in and post your opinions as well though! Note: you must register to post on the forums. Yes, I know some people don't like registering for things, but I'm evil like that. :-)
Happy October 2nd
I wasn't around my home computer at all yesterday, so I missed posting a Happy Birthday to Jamie. So, Happy Belated Birthday!
The Great Roommate Debate is finally over, with all emotional parties apologizing and coming to an amicable agreement finally. Thanks for all the opinions!
This weekend is a busy one. Last night was GGO time with the gang. Sorry, I can't explain or define GGO time. Just nod and smile and keep reading. We went out to dinner at the Olive Garden after Chris got off work, and then we watched Shaun of the Dead. Excellent flick by the way! The movie poster explains it perfectly..."A romantic comedy. With zombies." Go see if it you like offbeat quirky movies.
Today is...me trying to avoid catching a cold day. What fun. Some of the gang is out watching Sky Captain right now, but I wanted a bit of quiet "me" time this weekend, and this afternoon is about the only time I have. Later this evening we're going out to eat lots of sushi in celebration of Spyke's birthday.
Tomorrow....I was supposed to be able to sleep tomorrow. Alas, my alarm clock is going off early in the morning so Chris can make a mandatory "get ready for the holidays" meeting. Apparently I'm also being dragged to some town I can't spell or pronounce to look at arts & crafts type stuff. Later, Amber and I may sneak out for some girls' time getting our nails done, and then it's off to have cake at Spyke's. A bit later, we're all going out to celebrate my birthday at the Cheesecake Factory. So much sugar overload tomorrow.
Hopefully the cold that's trying to set in changes its mind. There's too much to do this weekend to be sick!
Well, Gentle Readers, it's time to go start taking Sudafed. Y'all have a good weekend!
